SOLVING THE MOST CHALLENGING LITERACY NEEDS WILL TAKE ALL OF US!

The 5th Annual Literacy and Justice for All Symposium brings together educators and school leaders, community-based practitioners, funders, researchers, leaders, and education champions for a comprehensive learning experience that elevates literacy in the classroom and beyond, through sessions that highlight both learning innovation and evidence literacy practice.

Literacy and Justice For All, represents a collective vision for literacy as a driver of social change and transformation, demanding that each of us believe in the ability of every child to THRIVE.

The literacy crisis is solvable. We invite you to submit proposals that help us consider our central question: How do we build a future where every young person is on a path to learn and love to read, and thrive in school and beyond?

We are soliciting proposals for our March 7th in-person symposium workshops.

Literacy and Justice Symposium
Policies and Guidelines

Conflict of Interest

Presenters are expected to serve as leaders and collaborators within the literacy and social justice field. To maintain the integrity and learning-focused nature of the Symposium, presenters should avoid any actual or perceived conflicts of interest. This includes promotional marketing, selling products or services, or engaging in activities that result in direct personal or commercial gain as a result of their participation. Sessions must be educational in nature and not used as a platform for commercial promotion or solicitation.

Change in Reputation

If at any time before or during the Symposium, the Oakland Literacy Coalition (OLC) determines that a speaker, facilitator, or individual in a leadership or representative role is involved in a situation that may reasonably subject them to public scandal, disrepute, widespread criticism, or conduct that may offend or undermine community values or the integrity of the event, OLC reserves the right to withdraw the invitation or terminate the agreement. In such a case, no further obligations or liabilities will remain between the parties.

Endorsement

The views and opinions expressed by presenters and facilitators at the Literacy & Justice for All Symposium do not necessarily reflect those of the Oakland Literacy Coalition (OLC). OLC is not responsible for any statements made or any harm or injury that may result from them. Selection to present at the Symposium does not imply OLC’s endorsement of the content or performance. Presenters are expected to clearly state that the views expressed are their own.

Copyright Protections

Presenters and facilitators agree that their content will not infringe on the proprietary or personal rights of others, will be factually accurate, and will not contain any defamatory or unlawful material. Presenters must ethically use third-party materials, comply with copyright and trademark standards, cite all sources appropriately, and secure permissions for the use of any images, graphics, music, or videos not created by them.
